This calendar lists what to expect at each visit during the course of your pregnancy.

First visit:
  • Orientation to the practice
  • Obtain history
  • Assign due date
  • Discuss prenatal vitamins
  • Order prenatal laboratory testing
About 12 weeks (or second visit):
  • Discuss prenatal lab results
  • Check weight, blood pressure, and urine
  • Listen for fetal heart tones
  • Perform pelvic exam (if not already done)
About 16 weeks:
  • Listen for fetal heart tones and check uterine size
  • Check weight, blood pressure, and urine
  • Sign up for prenatal education classes
  • Order 18-20 week ultrasound

About 24 weeks:

  • Discuss glucose test results
  • Verify that patients with Rh-negative blood types have received
  • RhoGAM® by 28 weeks
About 30 weeks:
  • Listen for fetal heart tones and check uterine size
  • Check weight, blood pressure, and urine

  • Evaluate the baby’s position
  • Schedule anesthesia class at Heritage Valley Sewickley
About 36 weeks:

  • Perform group B strep culture of the vagina
  • Discuss labor and delivery
  • Patients should attend anesthesia class at Heritage Valley Sewickley
About 38 weeks:
  • Listen for fetal heart tones and check uterine size
  • Check weight, blood pressure, and urine
  • A cervical examination may be performed
About 40 weeks:
  • Listen for fetal heart tones and check uterine size
  • Check weight, blood pressure, and urine
  • Perform cervical examination
